An Important Update from Mike Holbrook
Hello Home Buyers! If you're planning on working with a Realtor, here’s some important information you need to know. A significant change will affect how you work with Realtors. The National Association of Realtors has issued a new settlement, effective August 17, 2024, which means Realtors can no longer show you a home unless you have a signed agreement with them.
Key Points:
1. Signed Agreement Requirement: You must have a signed Buyer Representation Agreement with your Realtor before they can show you any property.
2.Non-Negotiable Policy: This policy is mandatory for all Realtors with a Realtor Designation.
3. Buyer Representation Agreement: This document outlines the contract between you and your Realtor, detailing the roles, duties, and responsibilities owed to you by your agent and the compensation they will receive for their services.
4. Scope of Agreement: Written agreements are required for both in-person and live virtual home tours. However, you do not need a written agreement if you’re just speaking to an agent at an open house or asking them about their services.
5. Flexibility in Agreement: You have the flexibility to decide when the agreement expires, ensuring that you do not feel forced into a long-term commitment.
